Objectives: Globally, oral cancer seems to be the sixth-utmost common cancer. Oral is chief among entire malignant tumors of men in Indian subcontinent and squamous cell carcinoma commonest all malignancies. Hence, present study, utility aspiration scrape cytology screening initial diagnosis lesions, confirm by histopathology, were studied. Methods: The enrolled patients underwent complete clinical history, examination, fine-needle (FNAC), cytological assessment, histopathological observations at VIMSAR, Odisha. Cytological smears stained with Diff-Quik Papanicolaou stains. interrelated concluding identification. Results: There 32 premalignant 60 lesions cavity. Overall 69.56% diagnostic accuracy for numerous intraoral was found. most site buccal mucosa, malignancy tongue. Among lesion, major, constituting 86.66% cases, fifth decade. Tissue eosinophils as a histopathological marker in oral premalignant and malignant lesions: a histochemical study

Introduction: Although recent studies show the association of eosinophils with different tumors including oral malignancies, the role of eosinophils in premalignant conditions of the oral cavity is not known precisely. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the number of eosinophils in premalignant and malignant conditions of the oral cavity and its role in progression to malignancy. Materia...

Photodynamic therapy of malignant and premalignant lesions in patients with 'field cancerization' of the oral cavity.

The management of patients with 'field cancerization' of the oral mucosa, with multicentric foci of invasion, presents a considerable problem for the head and neck surgeon. Surgical resection of synchronous or metachronous primary squamous cell carcinomas, along with adjacent premalignant lesions, is likely to be associated with considerable mutilation. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been shown...

Apoptotic Index and Proliferative Index in Premalignant and Malignant Squamous Cell Lesions of the Oral Cavity

BACKGROUND Oral squamous cell lesions are most commonly diagnosed lesions in India. Both premalignant and malignant lesions are frequently encountered. In this study, we evaluated the role and significance of apoptotic indices (AI) and proliferative indices (PI) in premalignant and malignant squamous cell lesions of the oral cavity. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 62 histologically proven ca...

evaluation of exfoliative cytology in the diagnosis of oral premalignant and malignant lesions: a cytomorphometric analysis

background: many oral squamous cell carcinomas (osccs) arise within regions that previously had premalignant lesion. early diagnosis and prompt treatment of premalignant lesions offers the best hope of improving the prognosis in patients with oscc. exfoliative cytology is a simple and non-invasive diagnostic technique that could be used for early detection of oral premalignant and malignant les...
